He conducts monthly public seminars, priced for entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs, in the Johannesburg area with plans to expand these to the regions. His topics concentrate on Happy Sandpit thinking in leadership; the development and management of organisational culture, and has covered a range of areas within that, from matrix structures, to Values campaigns and artifacts and architecture of workplaces for optimal employee engagement and performance.
From mid-2012 to late 2013, Colin interviewed CEOs, entrepreneurs, company founders and heads of HR around the country, trying to understand how deeply South African business leaders understood and acted upon what he came to understand as five hallmarks of a strong organisational culture – by which he means one that enables their employees to feel fully and productively engaged. It’s genuinely impressive to know how much this concept is a part of the DNA of many of our greatest businesses … and exciting to someone such as Colin, to realise how much more there is to do. The research continues with further books in the pipeline.
Colin heads up Happy Sandpit, South Africa’s most well-known organisational culture consultancy which helps organisations of all sizes to increase employee engagement, performance and loyalty. He is also the author of How to Build a Happy Sandpit, a business book based on research conducted with more than 60 South African organisations on how their cultures drive success. He will demonstrate how, by changing the context of the work they do, your employees will deliver performance that will help you soar to success.
